Job Title: Rita’s Roots Team Member

Hours per week: Flexible with most of the hours during 9a-5p Monday - Friday. Weekend help is required for plant sales when in season. 

Compensation: Starting hourly rate negotiable based on experience; paid holidays upon hire, one week paid vacation starting after 6 months, received every 6 months; semi-annual bonuses starting after 1 year of employment; use of company vehicles during work hours. 

Reports to: Rita Bachmann 

Primary Objective of Job: We are looking for our next all-in team member whose primary responsibilities are to join the team on garden box installations, help with tasks at our certified organic nursery in Summerville, and to help plant and maintain our client gardens across the Lowcountry. Secondary duties include and are not limited to: seeding and potting up plants, watering plants, plant deliveries, construction + landscaping projects, working plant sales on the weekend when in season, and nursery site maintenance. Additional areas of the business will require help from this position based on seasonality, need and direction from leadership.

Primary Job Requirements: 

-Experience growing vegetable garden plants in the Lowcountry. Experience growing successful garden plants in other climates will be considered. 

- Ability to perform all tasks needed for caring for a garden - carrying soil, amending, planting, seeding, watering, irrigation adjustments, pest management, pruning, harvesting, etc. 

- Ability to communicate with clients about what is happening in their gardens during their garden visits. 

-Proficiency in using communications apps on a cell phone which must be utilized on a daily basis – taking photos, SLACK + Quickbooks Time. 

-Ability to follow the daily schedule set forth by the manager. 

-Must have a reliable vehicle to get to and from work, along with an understanding that the vehicle may be used from time to time for Rita’s Roots material transport or errands, with

reimbursement for mileage applicable; along with a clean driving record and comfort in navigating a vehicle around town.

-Must have excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to keep records -Ability to multitask and jump in wherever help may be needed 

-Ability to be on time, self-motivate and work at a steady pace with a positive attitude -Ability to follow directions and manage one’s schedule efficiently 

-Ability to lift, bend, squat, and carry 50# + 

-Ability to work well with all team members 

-Ability to work long hours in the heat and cold 

-Ability to work independently and as part of a team 

-Ability to communicate with team members and clients professionally, effectively and kindly -Must be willing to go above and beyond when the season / weather requires it 

-Ability to read, understand and implement the company protocols set out in the Team Member Handbook
